Biography
Rui Massena is a Portuguese conductor, composer, and pianist born in Portugal in 1972. Massena studied at the Vilar de ParaÃso Academy and graduated in orchestra conducting from the National Superior Academy of Orchestra in Lisbon. In 2000, Massena became the artistic director of the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira. Massena performed at Carnegie Hall in 2007 with the New England Symphonic Ensemble. Their recordings include the albums Solo (2015) and Ensemble (2016). Massena has conducted performances for artists such as José Carreras and Eva Maria Zuk.
