Biography

Dutch classical pianist and composer Jeroen Van Veen was born in Herwen en Aerdt, Gelderland in 1969 and began learning the piano at the age of seven. He entered the Utrechts Conservatory to study under Alwin Bär and Håkon Austbø and from the age of 19 was traveling throughout Europe and America recording and performing. His albums cover a wide range of musical styles and encompass styles as wide-ranging as techno, trance, avant garde, pop, jazz, blues and classical. As well as traditional classical music, Van Veen has covered the works of contemporary American composers such as George Crumb, Steve Reich and Philip Glass and he has become renowned for his sparse, minimalist interpretations. As a recording artist Van Veen has a prodigious output and has been credited with having released over 100 albums since the turn of the millennium.
