Royce Campbell, born June 7, 1952, in North Vernon, Indiana, was an American jazz guitarist. At age nine, he discovered a love for rock and roll through Chuck Berry's music, which led him to pick up the guitar. After finishing high school in Spain, Campbell moved to Indianapolis to study under his uncle, pianist Carroll DeCamp. His first significant tour was with Marvin Gaye before joining the Henry Mancini orchestra at age 21, where he remained until Mancini's death in 1994. During this period, Campbell released several albums as a leader, including Nighttime Daydreams (1990), Vista (1993), and Gentle Breeze (1994). He also produced notable tribute projects such as Project G-5: A Tribute to Wes Montgomery (1993) featuring Tal Farlow, Jimmy Raney, Herb Ellis, and Cal Collins. In November 2010, Campbell was inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation Hall of Fame.
