Biography
Rotzkotz was a German punk rock band from Hannover that formed in 1977. The group was founded by Horst Illing and Ernst-August Wehmer and was among the first punk bands in Germany. They initially performed punk rock in English and released their debut studio album, much funny, (1979), which was the first self-produced punk record in the country. After signing with EMI in 1980, they released the single âProblemâ / âKein Problemâ (1980). Following a dispute with the label, they transitioned to using German lyrics and released the album Lebensfroh + Farbenfroh â Die schönsten deutschen Lieder von Rotzkotz (1981). The ensemble disbanded in 1982. In 1994, the band Die Ãrzte recorded a cover of their song âKein Problemâ for the EP 1, 2, 3, 4 â Bullenstaat! (1994).
