Ross Daly was born on September 29, 1952, in King's Lynn, Norfolk. He is an Irish-born composer who specializes in Celtic music and world music genres. He traveled extensively through the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent to study local musical traditions. In 1982, Ross Daly established Labyrinth Musical Workshop in Houdetsi, Crete, focusing on traditional music education. His early albums include Oneirou Topi (1982) and Lavyrinthos (1984). He designed a new type of Cretan lyra in 1990. Notable collaborations include works with the Chemirani Trio. Ross Daly's discography spans over 35 albums. In 2004, he was the artistic director for the cultural program of the Olympic Games in Heraklion, "Crete, Music Crossroads," featuring performances by over 300 musicians worldwide. He has performed at numerous festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America, and has collaborated with other musicians such as Vassilis Stavrakakis and Giorgos Manolakis (2015's Tin Anixi Perimenes), Evgenia Damavoliti-Toli (2016's Osi HaraâHoun ta Poulia) and Kelly Thoma (2017's Lunar).
