Biography

Jean-Baptiste Guégan was born on May 14, 1983 in Trégueux, in the Côtes-d'Armor region of Brittany, and performed in a number of small-scale shows before coming belatedly into the spotlight thanks to his participation in the 2018 TV show La France a un incroyable talent, which saw him win the competition. But his singularity - that of being the near-perfect vocal double of Johnny Hallyday - has not gone unnoticed since the singer's death, and he manages to reproduce every intonation, as well as possessing the same grain of voice. In 2019, without denying this heritage or his admiration for the singer, Jean-Baptiste Guégan decided to record his own compositions and release his first studio album, Puisque C'Est Écrit , recorded in Nashville, his idol's hometown. The mimicry is such that, in the minds of Johnny Hallyday fans, these songs sound like a posthumous album by the star, especially as five of them are based on lyrics by Michel Mallory, the rocker's historic lyricist, who collaborated fully on the opus. These texts, written in 2017, were originally intended for Johnny Hallyday as a basis for an album. This first album was warmly received by the public, and topped the sales charts in France. In June 2020, Jean-Baptiste Guégan unveils a new single, "Tu es toujours là", written and composed by Slimane, heralding the September release of the Breton singer's second opus, Rester le Même, which reaches number two in the French charts and number four in Belgium. Two years later, Jean-Baptiste Guégan released his third album, Toutes les Larmes Sèchent un Jour, which reached No. 4 in France, No. 16 in Belgium and No. 20 in Switzerland. Following the release of a reissue expanded by five tracks in November 2023, Guégan works on the following autobiographical album De l'Ombre à la Lumière (2025), including the extracts "Lettre à ma voix" and "Une chanson".
