Romain Virgo, born on January 24, 1990, in Stepney, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, is a singer specializing in lovers rock reggae. Growing up, he was influenced by his cousin Bryan Art and sang in the school choir at Aabuthnott Gallimore High School. Virgo's breakthrough came in 2007 when he won the Digicel Rising Stars competition, securing a recording contract with Greensleeves Records. His first hit single "Can't Sleep" (2008) was produced by Donovan Germain. Subsequent hits included "Wanna Go Home" (2009) and "Alton's Medley" (2009). In 2010, VP Records released his self-titled debut album. He performed at notable events like Rebel Salute and Passa Passa, and toured the United States with Capleton and Munga in 2010. His cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" topped charts in several Caribbean countries in 2014. In 2018, his album Lovesick reached Number 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
