Biography

Billed as the latest guitar-pop, indie saviours to emerge from Melbourne's vibrant music scene, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever first came to attention with their 'Talk Tight' EP in 2016 and quickly started earning comparisons to classic jangly 1980s cult heroes like The Go-Betweens, Field Mice and Orange Juice. Born out of high school bands and bedroom jam sessions, the band came together properly in 2013 and built around the unique, duelling blend of three singer-songwriters Fran Keaney, Tom Russo and Joe White. Things really started taking off though when their self-released single 'Clean Slate' was picked up by national radio station Triple J and after landing a deal with Sub Pop Records, they honed their tight, kinetic grooves, dreamy, sunny hooks and wonky tales of romances on their second EP 'The French Press'. As an excitable music press championed their nostalgic link to scrappy, indie outsiders of the past, their 2018 debut album 'Hope Downs' pitched spiky, saccharine melodies against melancholy confusion and tense, jittery backbeats and earned comparisons to more contemporary garage rock, surf-punk gangs such as Parquet Courts and Black Lips.
