ROCK'A'TRENCH is a Japanese rock band known for their eclectic sound and uplifting lyrics. Formed in the mid-2000s, they made their major debut in 2007 under Warner Music Japan. The bandâs name is inspired by Bob Marleyâs track âTrench Town Rock,â reflecting their deep admiration for reggae and roots music, which blends into their rock foundation. The five membersâDaisuke Yamamori (vocals, guitar), Takuya Hatakeyama (trombone, keyboards), Makoto Kawahara (bass), Hiroyuki Toyota (guitar, chorus), and Hayato Ohtake (drums)âquickly gained attention for their rich instrumentation and live performances. ROCK'A'TRENCH released a number of singles and albums throughout the late 2000s, including the emotional track "Hikari sasuhou e"(2011), which showcased their signature hopeful tone and dynamic musical arrangements. However, in 2011, the band announced an indefinite hiatus following a final live performance at Namba Hatch on December 3. After nearly a decade of silence, the band reconnected through a remote session in 2020. This reunion led to a revival of their creative activities, and on December 3, 2021âexactly ten years after their final liveâthey released new digital music, marking a symbolic and heartfelt return to the scene.
