American singer and songwriter Rob Jungklas secured a contract with Manhattan Records after fifteen years performing in the local circuit, and released his debut single "Memphis Thing" in 1986, followed by the album Closer To The Flame. The album peaked at number 102 on the Billboard 200, and the track "Make It Mean Something" reached number 86 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Boystown" received a music video directed by Godley & Creme. Subsequent releases include Work Songs For A New Moon (1989) on RCA Records, which did not chart, and a selfâreleased album Wrestle With Angels after an unreleased Manhattan project. In 2003, Jungklas returned to the market with the bluesâoriented Arkadelphia on Madjack Records, opening for Lucinda Williams, and followed it with Gully (2007). Later independent projects such as Mapping the Wreckage (2010), The Spirit And The Spine (2013), and Blackbirds (2017) expanded his catalog. He returned in 2025 with December (2025), continuing his shift toward folk and blues influences.
