Biography

Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley are an American bluegrass duo formed in Nashville, Tennesse, in 2013 by two great guitarists. Known for his historic Resonator dobro style, Robert Thomas Ickes (born in Sant Mateo, California, on May 26, 1947) was a member of the bands Blue Highway and Three Ring Circle. He also recorded five solo albums between 1997 and 2009, plus Three Bells (2014), in trio with Mike Auldridge and Jerry Douglas, before teaming up with Trey Hensley. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on September 27, 1990, Trey Hensley has been performing on stage since the age of eleven. Also known for his guitar virtuosity, he has accompanied many artists, including Marty Stuart, Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash and Tom T. Hall. He has recorded two solo albums, Looking at My Future (2008) and It Is What It Is (2009). When they met in 2013, the two musicians quickly considered working together and recorded the albums Before the Sun Goes Down (2015), The Country Blues (2016), World Full of Blues (2019) and Living in a Song (2025), tinged with bluegrass, country, folk and blues.
