Biography

Rob de Nijs was a Dutch singer and actor born on December 26, 1942, in Amsterdam. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by pop and for being one of the most successful pop singers in the Netherlands. De Nijs achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he won a talent contest in 1962 and recorded with the ensemble the Lords. His recording career began with the single “Ritme van de Regen” (1963), which reached number 4 in the charts. De Nijs achieved professional recognition for the song “Jan Klaassen de Trompetter” (1973) and the studio recording Tussen Zomer en Winter (1977). His discography included the studio recording Met Je Ogen Dicht (1980), which was the best-selling album of the year in the Netherlands. He achieved professional recognition for the song “Alles Wat Ademt” (1985) reaching number 2 and the remix of the song “Banger Hart” (1996) reaching Number 1 in the Netherlands and Belgium. De Nijs achieved professional recognition for receiving a knighthood in 2000 and the Edison award for his career contributions in 2002. His recording career included the studio recording Eindelijk Vrij (2010). He achieved professional recognition for performing a final concert in Amsterdam on June 22, 2022. De Nijs died on March 16, 2025, in Bennekom.
