Biography

Members of the defunct band Kinky Machine, which released two albums in the early '90s, Louis Eliot (vocals, guitar), Johnny Bull (guitar) and Anthony Christmas (drums) formed Rialto with bassist Julian Taylor and keyboardist Toby Hounsham in 1997, and went on to sign with the EastWest label, releasing their first singles "When We're Together" and "Untouchable " (charted at No. 20 in 1998). Despite having a debut album ready for release, the label parted company with the band, who signed with China Records for release in July 1998, just as the Britpop wave was beginning to fade. Nevertheless, Rialto met with success with three more chart-topping singles, from the Girl on a Train EP (2000) and the second album Night on Earth (2001). Even more popular in Asia, where the first album went double platinum, than in their own country, Rialto broke up in 2002 to make way for Louis Eliot's solo career. However, the band signaled their return in April 2023, first on stage, before setting about recording a third album, Neon & Ghosts Signs (2025), from which "No One Leaves This Discotheque Alive", "Can That Never Comes " and "Remembering to Forget" are taken.
