Biography

James Leslie Moore, known professionally as Reverend James Moore, was born on February 1, 1956. He began his musical journey under the mentorship of Elma Hendrix Parham and released his debut album Thank You Master under Savoy Records in January 1974. Moore's career took a significant turn with his live debut in 1988 under Malaco Records. He recorded two live albums with The Mississippi Mass Choir, including Live with the Mississippi Mass Choir (1990) and Live At Jackson State University (1995). Notable releases include "I Will Trust In The Lord..." (1993), It Ain't Over (Til God Says It's Over) (1997), and his final album Family & Friends Live From Detroit (2000). Despite facing health challenges, Moore won a Stellar Award for Best Male Solo Performance and received three Grammy nominations. He passed away on June 7, 2000, at the age of 44.
