Biography

Luther Barnes, born March 10, 1954, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is an American musician known for his roles as a singer and record producer. He began his musical journey by directing the "On the Rise Youth Choir" at Red Budd Holy Church. His first album, See What The Lord Has Done, was released in 1987. Throughout his career, Barnes has collaborated with notable gospel artists such as Shirley Caesar and Kirk Franklin. He is also known for his work with Luther Barnes and the Sunset Jubilaires and the Red Budd Gospel Choir, releasing albums like A Live Celebration (1995) and Someone to Lean On (1996). Barnes has received numerous accolades, including the 1992 Vision Award, the 2006 Mississippi Gospel Award, and a Grammy nomination in 2004. He was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Detroit, Michigan.
