Reuben Bell was an American soul singer born circa 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He started a career singing in local clubs and released a first single, "It's Not That Easy" (1967), with backing group the Casanovas on the Murco label. In 1972, Bell recorded Tarheel Slim's song, "I Hear You Knocking (It's Too Late)" (1972), for the DeLuxe label, which became his only chart hit, reaching number 38 on the Billboard R&B chart. He released his sole album Blues Get Off My Shoulder in 1982. Bell died in 2004 in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood.
