Biography

Rosendo Mercado Ruiz, born on February 23, 1954, in Madrid, Spain, is a Spanish rock singer and songwriter. He started his career as a guitarist with the band Fresa in 1972, which later became Ñu after José Carlos Molina joined. Following his military service, Rosendo left Ñu to form Leño in 1978, serving as both guitarist and vocalist alongside Chiqui Mariscal and Ramiro Penas. Their debut album Leño was released in 1979, followed by Más madera in 1980 and a live recording En directo in 1981. Leño's final performances occurred during the Rock de una noche de verano tour in 1983, after which the band disbanded. Rosendo's solo career began with Loco por incordiar in 1985, achieving commercial success with songs like "Agradecido" and "Pan de higo". Subsequent notable albums include Jugar al gua, Listos para la reconversión, and Canciones para normales y mero dementes. In 2006, he received the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes.
