Ramona Modesta Onetto Galarza, known as Ramona Galarza, was born on June 15, 1940, in Corrientes, Argentina. She began her career as a soloist in the Folkloric Orchestra of Corrientes Province and later moved to Buenos Aires, where she became known as La Novia del Paraná. Her breakthrough came with the release of her first album, Litoraleña, in 1959, which included songs like "Kilómetro 11" and "Virgencita del RÃo". Galarza recorded over 30 albums during her career, primarily for the Odeón record label. Notable releases include Los grandes del litoral (1978), a collaboration with Antonio Tarragó Ros, and Brisa Suave (1962). She also appeared in several films, including Alto Paraná (1958) and ArgentinÃsima (1972). Galarza was honored by the Argentine Senate in 2008 for her cultural contributions. Her final public performance was at the 2020 Chamamé National Festival. She died on September 22, 2020.
