Radio Rats, a South African rock group formed in 1977 in Springs, South Africa, consisted of Jonathan Handley on lead guitar and background vocals, Dave Davies on lead vocals, Herbie Parkin on bass, Leonard Dixon on drums and various other drummers. Their debut album Into the Night We Slide was released in 1978 and featured the hit single "ZX Dan," which peaked at number 2 on Johannesburg-based Radio 5. The album was critically acclaimed and included in lists of essential South African albums. Despite airplay bans on most tracks, Radio Rats left a lasting impact with their distinctive sound.
