D/troit is a soul band from Copenhagen, Denmark, formed in 2010 by Toke Bo Nisted, Klaus Højbjerg, Jackie Larsen, Mads Jensen, and Stefan Cannerslund Andersen. The band's name referenced Detroit, Michigan, home to the influential Motown Records label. D/troit released their debut EP Do the Right Thing in 2015 through Crunchy Frog, gaining traction when British radio host Craig Charles featured their music on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music. Their breakthrough came with the licensing of "Soul Thing" (2016) for a Heineken commercial. In 2017, D/troit released their first full-length album Soul Sound System, featuring guest vocals from Gabriel Roth. They toured extensively through Northern Europe and Germany following its release. Their second album, Heavy, was released in 2022 and includes the tribute song "Gotta Have Soul" dedicated to James Brown.
