Biography

Pugwash, an Irish pop band fronted by Drimnagh-born musician Thomas Walsh, was formed in 1999. Walsh set up a recording facility in his parents' garden after receiving compensation from a childhood accident and began recording demos. In 1995, one of these demos was named Demo of the Year by Irish music magazine Hot Press. Pugwash released their debut album Almond Tea in 1999, which reached number 23 on a list of top albums of the millennium in Hot Press. The band's second album, Almanac, was released in 2002 and featured contributions from Jason Falkner. The track "Anyone Who Asks" from this album was used prominently in the 2008 Hollywood movie Pride and Glory. Pugwash continued to release albums including Jollity (2005) and Eleven Modern Antiquities (2008).
