Biography

Propuesta Vallenata is a Colombian duo formed in Córdoba in 2002 by singer-songwriter Francisco Javier Márquez (lead vocals) and musician-producer Mauricio Arango (accordion, piano, production). Emerging from the romantic branch of vallenato, they shaped a repertoire of emotive, melody-forward songs and signed with Codiscos, which presents them as a duo and highlights their founders’ Córdoba roots. Their breakout run on the label assembled several releases: the studio albums La Alegría de Mi Tierra (2002), De Corazón (2005), and La Fuerza del Amor (2007), plus the compilation Sensitivo (2022), establishing signature tracks such as “Propuesta Indecente,” “Hasta Que Regrese,” “No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti,” “Mujer Bonita,” “Te Regale,” and “Farolito.” Credited recordings consistently list Propuesta Vallenata alongside Francisco Javier and Mauricio Arango, underscoring Arango’s role behind the console and on accordion, while Francisco Javier fronts the vocals both on record and in media appearances. In 2023–24 the duo continued to refine their romantic style while experimenting with adjacent Caribbean rhythms (bachata, merengue, salsa) without abandoning their vallenato core. Subsequently they issued the single “Tiempos Vividos” on February 17, 2025, extending their catalog and live set with an emphasis on polished duet chemistry and accordion-driven arrangements.
