Biography
Precious Bryant was an American country blues, gospel, and folk singer and guitarist who was born as Precious Bussey in Talbot County, Georgia, in 1942. She achieved early professional recognition in 1967 after being recorded by the folklorist George Mitchell and is famous for her Piedmont fingerstyle guitar playing and for being one of Georgiaâs great blueswomen. Bryant learned to play guitar from her father and her uncle, the blues musician George Henry Bussey. In 1995, she began collaborating with the Music Maker Relief Foundation, which assisted her in booking global tours. Her discography includes her debut studio recording Fool Me Good (2002), which was nominated for two Blues Music Awards, and the recordings The Truth (2004) and My Name Is Precious (2005). Her track âMorning Trainâ was featured on the soundtrack for the film Black Snake Moan (2007). Bryant died in Columbus, Georgia, in 2013.
