Pras, who was born Samuel Prakazrel Michel in New York City on October 19, 1972, became known in the course of his musical career primarily as an integral part of The Fugees. The songwriter and rapper, who met Lauryn Hill, singer of The Fugees, at school, has also made a name for himself in the music biz outside of his traditional hip-hop formation. The cousin of Wyclef Jean, who was also a member of The Fugees at the time, launched his solo career with Ghetto Supastar (1998) after the band broke up. The album immediately positioned itself in the charts of several countries such as Germany (number 68), Great Britain (number 44) and the USA (number 55). Above all, the lead single "Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)", taken from the album, became an international superhit and took pole position in the sales lists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, for example. Pras, who also makes his film debut(Mystery Men) just one year later and translates the previous smash banger "Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)" into a novel, lands an unprecedented summer hit shortly after the turn of the millennium: together with R&B singer Dante Thomas, the song "Miss California" (2001) reaches number 1 in the German charts, while also achieving remarkable top 5 positions in Austria and Switzerland. in 2005, the MC followed up with his second studio album Win Lose or Draw, before Pras supported the singer Denise Lopez on her track "Turn You On" in 2007.
