Biography
Poppin'Party is a fictional all-girl pop band that stars in the Japanese anime series 'BanG Dream!'. The band has also made the transition to reality with live performances in which the original voice actors sing and play the instruments belonging to their characters. Created by the Japanese entertainment company Bushiroad in 2015, 'BanG Dream!' follows the adventures of the main character Kasumi Toyama as she begins studying at high school. It transpires that Kasumi is searching for the 'star beat', an exciting and enigmatic sound that she heard while looking up at the stars as a child. Discovering a red ESP brand guitar in a friend's pawnshop, she forms a band with four of her classmates, hoping to recreate the sound she seeks. The series features music by composers Junpei Fujita and Noriyasu Agematsu and has spawned card games, spin-off TV series and a rhythm game app for iPhone and Android, as well as other fictional all-girl bands including Roselia, Glitter*Green, Raise A Suilen and Afterglow. Poppin'Party released several singles beginning in 2016 with 'Yes BanG Dream!' and 'Star Beat'. In 2019, all their previously released singles were collected on the album 'Poppin'on'.
