Pop. 1280, a cyberpunk/industrial rock band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2008 when Chris Bug moved to New York after spending two years in China post-high school graduation. The group initially consisted of Bug on vocals and Ivan Lip on guitar, with John Skultrane joining as bass player and Andrew Smith as drummer. Their debut single "Bedbugs" was released in 2009, followed by the EP The Grid in 2010. Pop. 1280's sound evolved from downer punk to a blend of various genres including no wave, new wave, punk, and industrial rock. Their debut album, The Horror, was released in 2012 on Sacred Bones Records, followed by Imps Of Perversion in 2013. Notable singles include "Thirteen Steps" (2011) and "Penetrate" (2015). The band continued to release albums such as Paradise (2016), Way Station (2019), and Museum On The Horizon (2021).
