Biography

Plethyn is a Welsh language folk music group from mid-Wales, formed in the late 1970s by Linda Healy, Roy Griffiths and John Gittins. The trio specialized in the close vocal harmonies of the traditional plygain tradition. They were active primarily between 1978 and 1995. Their debut album Blas y Pridd was released in 1979, followed by Golau Tan Gwmwl in 1980. Plethyn's music primarily consisted of arrangements of traditional songs, with some original compositions featuring lyrics by Myrddin ap Dafydd. The group disbanded after 1995, leaving behind a notable discography that includes compilations like Blas y Pridd/Golau Tan Gwmwl (1990) and Goreuon Plethyn (2003).
