Pitch Black Forecast, an American heavy metal band formed in 2007 in Ohio, initially consisted of Mushroomhead frontman Jason Popson and ex-Strapping Young Lad drummer Gene Hoglan. The group's origins dated back to 2005 when they were known as Absentee. Their debut album, Absentee, was released on May 6, 2008, featuring guest contributions from Randy Blythe of Lamb of God and Human Furnace of Ringworm. In August 2012, the band released their second album, a five-track EP titled Burning in Water⦠Drowning in Flame, which included collaborations with Devin Townsend and M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold. Their third album, As the World Burns, was released on October 21, 2014, featuring guest appearances by M. Shadows, Randy Blythe, Devin Townsend, and Human Furnace.
