Biography

With a mix of Jewish-Catholic parents, family roots in Ireland, Germany, and Lithuania, and a striking voice commanding stage presence, Alecia Beth Moore (September 8, 1979) was one of the most colorful talents to emerge in the noughties. Despite a childhood blighted by illness, she displayed an early talent for singing, performing in clubs from the age of 14 and she was only 16 when she joined the Atlanta-based R&B trio Choice. They were signed to LaFace Records, but when they disbanded without releasing a record Alecia Moore changed her name to Pink after a character in the movie Reservoir Dogs (1992) and embarked on a solo career. Her debut album Can't Take Me Home - part-produced by Babyface - was released in 2000 and sold 5 million copies. A string of hits followed, including a collaboration with Christina Aguilera and Lil' Kim on a cover of "Lady Marmalade," and Pink proved herself a formidable songwriter on a string of powerful albums: Missundaztood (2001), Try This (2003), I'm Not Dead (2006), Funhouse (2008) and The Truth About Love (2012). After scoring the huge Number 1 single with "Lady Marmalade," Pink continued the success with "Get the Party Started," "Just Like a Pill," "Family Portrait," "God Is a DJ," "Stupid Girls," "Who Knew," and "U + Ur Hand," all of which broke the Top 20 in the US. In 2017 she released her seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, after rumors that she was working on new material. The album, preceded by the chart-topping single "What About Us," was accompanied by a documentary following its production and release. 2019 saw the release of Pink's eighth studio album, Hurts 2B Human, which spawned the singles "Walk Me Home," "Hustle," "Can We Pretend" with Cash Cash and the title track featuring Khalid. Her second live album, All I Know So Far: Setlist, appeared in 2021 and was followed by the single "Never Not Gonna Dance Again" (2022), the first teaser from Pink's ninth full-length, Trustfall (2023).
