Born Pierrette Béland on April 12, 1948 in Montreal (Canada), and died on April 16, 2013 in Laval (Canada), Pier Béland was a Quebec country and pop singer. She began her career in the mid-1970s, singing her own compositions in cabarets. She released her first album in 1985, Tendrement , featuring her first radio hit, "L'Enfant de l'adultère" . She followed this up with Chante l' Amour in 1988, Séduction in 1989 and a self-titled album in 1990. Her biggest career hits are on these three albums, including "Lucky Star ", "Oublie tout " , "Pourquoi oublier " and "Sans toi " . In the 1990s, she moved away from pop to sing country songs. She also wrote songs for other artists, such as Marie-Chantal Toupin 's "Maudit bordel ", which was named song of the year in 2004. In July 2012, she was diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer. She gave her last concert on March 17, 2013. Her final album, Ce Que Je Suis, is released the day after her death. It was posthumously awarded the Félix for Country Album of the Year the same year.
