Phoenix Effect is an alternative rock/post-grunge band from Espoo, Finland. Formed in 2008 by guitarist and vocalist Janne Kärkkäinen, who had previously been a member of the Finnish pop band Sunrise Avenue, Phoenix Effect began with Kärkkäinen collaborating with Marko Saaresto and Olli Tukiainen from Poets of the Fall to write songs for their debut album. The band released Cyanide Skies on February 18, 2009, which entered the Finnish album charts at number 22. Notable tracks include "King See No Evil", featuring additional vocals and guitars by Saaresto and Tukiainen from Poets of the Fall. The album was produced by Markus Kaarlonen and released under Poets of the Fall's Insomniac label in Finland.
