Biography

During their brief period in the limelight the rap duo Philly's Most Wanted had just one memorable hit single titled 'Cross the Border' which hit the charts in the year 2000 and made it to number three in the Billboard's US Rap listings. The track was to be the lead single off a forthcoming album called 'Get Down Or Lay Down' which had been produced by The Neptunes, a talented production duo comprised of Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams. In theory the combination of Williams' name on the production credits and a top-three single should have ensured a successful album launch but for a variety of reasons the album's release was delayed for over a year. The band's problems were compounded by the music and media platform BET refusing to support the single's accompanying video which meant album sales were disappointing. Both The Neptunes and their record label Atlantic walked away from the project and the follow-up album, 'Ring the Alarm' (2004), was released under the abbreviated name Philly's Most. The band never recovered from the loss of momentum caused by the delayed release of their debut album and in late 2004 they disbanded.
