Biography
Classical pianist Philippe Bianconi - born in Nice, France on March 27, 1960 â is best known for his post-romantic repertoire. He began his musical journey studying piano at the Conservatoire de Nice before continuing his studies in Paris, France and Freiburg, Germany. When he was 17, he won first prize at the Juenesses musicales competition in Belgrade, Serbia. He came to prominence after winning the Cleveland International Piano Competition and scoring a silver medal in 1985 at the Van Cliburn Competition. After making his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1987, he has performed with many of the greatest conductors and orchestras and appeared at festivals and in major concert halls all around the world. He is equally comfortable performing with large ensembles as well as doing solo recitals and has released numerous acclaimed recordings including Schumann (1996), Schubert (2001), Debussy: Préludes (2012), Brahms: Concertos pour Piano (2020), and Ravel: L'Åuvre pour Piano (2023).
