Biography

Born on May 9, 1969, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, classical pianist Nelson Goerner has been referred to as one of the best pianists of his generation. Although he has a broad repertoire, he is best known for his dedication to the works of Chopin. His musical journey began at a young age when he studied the piano as a child and continued when he attended the Buenos Aries Conservatory. In 1986, Nelson Goerner came to prominence when he won the Franz Liszt Piano Competition and then debuted with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. While still studying – he received a scholarship to attend the Geneva Conservatory – he also performed live at some of the biggest festivals across Europe and at many prestigious venues around the world. As a recording artist, he has recorded many acclaimed albums of solo piano recitals and performances with a full orchestra. Nelson Goerner’s debut album, Chopin: Piano Works, was released in 1997. Subsequent releases include Liszt: 12 Études d'Exécution Transcendante (2001), Chopin: Works for Piano and Orchestra (2008), Chopin: Pieśni – Songs (2010), Chopin (2010), Chopin: Polonaise - Berceuse - Barcarolle - 24 Préludes (2015), Brahms: Concerto No. 2 (2018), and Albéniz: Iberia (2022).
