Biography

Philip John Mogg, known as Phil Mogg, was born on April 15, 1948 in Wood Green, London. He is the frontman and founding member of the legendary British hard rock band UFO, which was founded in 1969. The band led the way in the transition from early hard rock to heavy metal and influenced many later rock bands such as Iron Maiden and Def Leppard. In addition to Phil Mogg, the best-known members of UFO included Pete Way (bass), Michael Schenker (guitar) and Andy Parker (drums). Phil Mogg sang on all 22 UFO studio albums. The band's best-known albums are Lights Out (1977), Obsession (1978) and the legendary live album Strangers in the Night (1979). Some of their best-known songs are "Doctor Doctor", "Rock Bottom" and "Only You Can Rock Me". After many successful years with UFO, Phil Mogg decided to continue with a new band called Moggs Motel in 2022 and released the album Moggs Motel in 2024. Despite health setbacks, such as a heart attack in 2022, Phil Mogg continued his musical career.
