Biography

Originally from Hobbs, New Mexico, where he was born on March 31, 1981, Ryan Bingham grew up in Texas and worked on a ranch before turning to music. Nomadic by nature, he traveled the region, making a name for himself in rodeo shows, ending them with impromptu concerts with his guitar. His first self-produced recordings attracted the attention of Lost Highway Records, which launched him on a large scale with the album Mescalito (2007), produced by Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), as did its successor Roadhouse Sun (2009). That same year, Ryan Bingham collaborated with T-Bone Burnett on the score for the Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning film Crazy Heart. The collaboration continued on his album Junkie Star (2010), recorded with his band The Dead Horses. Separated from Lost Highway Records, he worked with producer Justin Stanley in Malibu on the album Tomorrowland (2012), released on his own Axster Bingham Records label. In 2015, its successor Fear and Saturday Night is produced by Jim Ford. It is followed by the live album Ryan Bingham Live (2016) and the double American Love Song (2019), produced with Charlie Sexton. In 2023, Ryan Bingham returns with the Watch Out for the Wolf EP, before teaming up with The Texas Gentlemen for the next album, They Call Us the Lucky Ones, released in May 2026, seven years after its predecessor.
