Biography

Caro Kiste Kontrabass, a German band from Kassel, was formed in 2009. The trio consisted of Carolin "Caro" Wendel on vocals and guitar, Axel Garbelmann on various instruments including Cajón, mandolin, banjo, and didgeridoo, and Harald Bernstein on electric bass and double bass. They began as a spontaneous project to support friends' performances but quickly evolved into a collaborative ensemble with rotating guest musicians. In 2011, they released their first EP Zwischenhalte, followed by the debut album In der Nähe der Zufriedenheit in March 2012. The album's track "Egal was" reached Number 1 on the Liederbestenliste in June 2012 and earned a nomination for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. The band performed at notable festivals such as Musikschutzgebiet and Rudolstadt-Festival, and received the Förderpreis der Liederbestenliste in September 2012. Their second album Fahrlässige Poesie was released in 2017 under DMG Germany.
