Peter Maunu, an American jazz guitarist born in 1953, initially pursued classical violin after earning a scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Influenced by Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, he transitioned to electric guitar. In the mid-1970s, Maunu collaborated with notable artists including Claus Ogerman, Billy Cobham, Jean-Luc Ponty, Bobby McFerrin, and The L.A. Express. He was part of Group 87 from 1984, contributing to their album A Career in Dada Processing. Maunu released his solo album Warm Sound in a Gray Field on the Narada label. From the mid-1980s, he primarily worked as a session musician for film scores.
