Biography

Peter Jefferies is a New Zealand rock and experimental musician and teacher from New Plymouth. In 1981, Jefferies performed as the drummer and singer for the post-punk band Nocturnal Projections with his brother Graeme Jefferies. The duo subsequently formed This Kind of Punishment, releasing three albums and an EP before disbanding in 1985. Jefferies launched his solo career with the 1985 single “Randolph's Going Home” and the 1987 album At Swim 2 Birds. His solo discography included The Last Great Challenge in a Dull World (1990), Electricity (1994), and Closed Circuit (2001). He collaborated with Robbie Muir on the releases “Catapult” (1989) and “Swerve” (1992). Jefferies also formed 2 Foot Flame with Jean Smith, releasing the albums 2 Foot Flame (1995) and Ultra Drowning (1997). In 2002, he retired from professional performance to become a music mentor and teacher at Spotswood College.
