American singer-songwriter and record producer Peter H. Brown, known professionally as Peter Brown, was born on July 11, 1953, in Blue Island, Illinois, and raised in Palos Heights, Illinois. Brown's early musical influences included Santana, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Chicago. He began his music career playing drums and later became proficient with various percussion instruments and the synthesizer. In 1977, Brown released his debut album A Fantasy Love Affair, which featured the disco hits "Do Ya Wanna Get Funky With Me" and "Dance With Me". The success of these singles led to a record deal with TK Records. Brown's career flourished in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His debut album went gold, and he was named the Number 1 new male album artist by Billboard Magazine for 1978. He also received nominations from NARAS (The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) for a Grammy Award for best R&B Vocal Performance for "Dance With Me". Brown's subsequent albums included Stargazer (1979), Back To The Front (1983), and Snap (1984). He also wrote the hit song "Material Girl" with Robert Rans. Throughout his career, Peter Brown performed on notable television shows such as American Bandstand and the Mike Douglas Show, and he toured extensively, playing venues like New York's The Bottom Line and Madison Square Garden. He returned in 2018 with 5th studio album Boom.
