Biography

Paulette McWilliams is an American singer and songwriter. She performed publicly at age 11 on Little Stars and released her first recording, "Heâs Nothing but a Teenage Dropout", as a B-side on a Jad Bradley single. McWilliams joined The American Breed (later Ask Rufus) in 1969, serving as lead vocalist until 1972. She moved to Los Angeles and worked on jingles before being recommended to producer Quincy Jones. In 1977, she released her debut solo album Feel Good All Over. Throughout her career, McWilliams collaborated with notable artists including Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, and David Bowie. She released several solo albums, including Never Been Here Before (1977), Flow (2007), and Telling Stories (2012).
