Biography

Paul "Wine" Jones, born on July 1, 1946, in Flora, Mississippi, was an American guitarist and singer. He began playing guitar at age four and performed at local house parties during his teens. In the early 1970s, Jones worked as a welder while continuing to play music with various local musicians. His breakthrough came in 1995 when he joined Fat Possum's "Mississippi Juke Joint Caravan," leading to his debut album Mule, produced by Robert Palmer and featuring drummer Sam Carr and guitarist Big Jack Johnson. Jones released two more albums, Pucker Up Buttercup (1999) and the posthumous Stop Arguing Over Me (2006). He passed away from cancer in October 2005, in Jackson, Mississippi, at age 59.
