Biography

Patrick Saussois, born on June 24, 1954 in Paris, was a French guitarist known for his contributions to jazz manouche. Fascinated by his father's guitar playing, Saussois taught himself to play despite being left-handed and using a right-handed guitar. He turned professional in 1977 and released his debut album Si tu savais in 1982. In 1988, he founded Djaz Records and later created the band Alma Sinti in 1996. Throughout his career, Saussois released several albums including Alma Sinti (1996) and Swingin' American Songs (2005). In 2009, a stroke left him incapacitated, ending his career. Patrick Saussois passed away on September 21, 2012. Posthumously, his music was honored by young musicians in the album Rêve Bohémien (2022).
