Biography

Parlet was an American female funk group formed in 1978 as a spin-off of Parliament-Funkadelic (P-Funk). Conceived by George Clinton, Parlet featured vocalists Debbie Wright, Jeanette Washington, and Mallia Franklin in their earliest lineup. Their debut album, Pleasure Principle, was released in 1978 on Casablanca Records. Following Wright's departure due to health concerns, Shirley Hayden joined for their second album, Invasion of the Booty Snatchers, released in 1979. Parlet’s third and final album, Play Me or Trade Me, was released in 1980 but saw minimal promotion due to Casablanca's financial collapse. The group disbanded later that year as P-Funk underwent internal upheaval.
