Jorge AntÃ´nio Santos da Silva, better known as Tony Salles, is a Brazilian pagode/axÃ© singer from Salvador (with deep ties to the Periperi neighborhood) whose career began on the Bahia circuit before he became a nationally recognized Carnaval frontman. After an early stint with the group CafunÃ©, he gained broader visibility as a vocalist in Ã o Tchan and later sang with Raghatoni, sharpening a style built for trio elÃ©trico energy and call-and-response hooks. In 2014 Tony Salles took over as the lead singer of ParangolÃ©, stepping into a band that had already hit mainstream Brazil and then spending a decade keeping it at the center of Bahiaâs party calendar, including the 2024 Carnaval single âPerna Bambaâ with LÃ©o Santana. In July 2024 he announced he was leaving ParangolÃ© to pursue a solo career, launching that phase with the album A Minha HistÃ³ria (2024), which mixed new songs with nods to earlier eras and included âVetinhaâ with Henry Freitas as one of its key tracks. He opened his solo touring run with a free hometown show in Periperi in December 2024, then made his official solo Carnaval debut on Salvadorâs major circuits in 2025. In late 2025 he released âPanameraâ (2025), and in January 2026 he expanded that momentum with the album O VerÃ£o do Pai (2026), positioning âPanameraâ as his flagship song for Carnaval 2026 while continuing to anchor his sound in pagode swing, axÃ© punch, and crowd-first refrains.
