Owe Thörnqvist, born on March 12, 1929, in Uppsala, is a Swedish singer-songwriter and revue artist. He produced his first revue in Uppsala in 1953 and released his debut record in 1955. Thörnqvist's musical style encompasses rock, ballroom rumba, and calypso, with a distinctive flair for wordplay and humor. In the 1950s, he pioneered stand-up comedy in Sweden at venues like Hamburger Börs and Berns in Stockholm. Throughout his career, Thörnqvist collaborated with notable artists such as Povel Ramel, Anita Lindblom, Lill Lindfors, and Eva Rydberg. He contributed to the Swedish qualifying contest for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen, by writing songs in 1962, 1963, and 1965, and performed "Boogieman Blues" at the age of 87 in 2017. Thörnqvist received H.M. The King's Medal in 2004 for his contributions to Swedish culture, along with the Evert Taube prize and the Cornelis Vreeswijk prize.
