Biography

Oum Shatt is a German alternative rock band from Berlin, known for their "radically pure and minimal form of rock'n'roll with Arabic references." The band was formed by Jonas Poppe, who had previously been active with bands Sitcom Warriors and Kissogram. Their debut EP Power to the Women of the Morning Shift was released in 2013. The band's self-titled debut album Oum Shatt followed in 2016 on Snowhite Records. Oum Shatt performed at various festivals including Fusion Festival (2014), Immergut Festival (2014), Reeperbahn Festival (2016), and Watt En Schlick Festival (2017). They also played internationally at Les Transmusicales in Rennes, France (2013) and South by Southwest in Austin, Texas (2017). Their second studio album Opt Out was released on January 26, 2024, on the label Wanda Y., preceded by singles "Play!" (2023), "Madame LeSoleil Levant" (2023), and "Off to St. Pete" (2024).
