Biography

Orquesta del Sol, a Japanese salsa band, was formed in 1978 by Masahito "Pecker" Hashida. Their debut album, Rainbow Love, was released in 1981. The group gained prominence performing at Tokyo clubs like Pit Inn and Crocodile, influencing the Latin music scene in Japan. They collaborated with international stars such as José Alberto y su Orquesta and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. In 1995, they performed at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City for the 35th Anniversary Event for the Sister City Relationship between New York City and Tokyo, receiving standing ovations. Their song "The Fight!!" was the official title of the Japanese National Team for the FIFA World Cup in France in 1998.
