Biography

Orkesta Mendoza is a Latin music band from Tucson, Arizona, founded in 2009 by singer and guitarist Sergio Mendoza. The group emerged from a tribute project to Cuban mambo king Pérez Prado, which evolved into a full-fledged band. Orkesta Mendoza's unique style, dubbed "indie mambo," blends ranchera, cumbia, psychedelic, and indie rock elements through the use of Latin percussion, accordion, brass, and steel guitars. In October 2014, the band performed at WOMEX 14 Official Showcase Selection of World Music Expo 2014. Notable releases include ¡Vamos A Guarachar! (2016), which showcases their distinctive sound. The group has also performed at events such as the Pachanga Latino Music Festival in May 2015, further solidifying their presence in the Latin music scene.
