Biography

Northern Uproar, an English rock band formed in Stockport in 1995, consisted of Leon Meya on vocals and bass, Paul Kelly on guitar, Jeff Fletcher on guitar, and Keith Chadwick on drums. The group gained initial praise from music magazines NME and Melody Maker following energetic live performances at the Roadhouse in Manchester. In late 1995, they released their first single "Rollercoaster", which peaked at number 41 in the UK Singles Chart. Their next single "From a Window" reached number 17, leading to appearances on Top of the Pops and the cover of Melody Maker. In April 1996, Northern Uproar released their self-titled debut album, which charted at number 22 in the UK. The band toured the United Kingdom and Japan before releasing their second album Yesterday Tomorrow Today in 1997. Despite critical acclaim, this album was less commercially successful. In late 1997, they issued "Goodbye" as a single and parted ways with Heavenly Records. The band disbanded in 1999 but reunited in 2006, releasing Stand and Fight in July 2007 on Tiny Rebel. They continued to release albums, including All That Was Has Gone in June 2013 and Hey Samurai! in October 2015. Guitarist Jeff Fletcher left the band in 2013 and tragically passed away in November 2014 after being killed by a lorry.
